Senior Email Marketing Specialist - Holiday Inn Club Vacations

Sept. 2021 - Current

What can I say? I'm not curing cancer, I'm helping to sell timeshare. While the industry has a bad rap - I am focused on making the campaigns as straight-forward as I can. I have learned the ins and outs of what it takes to market in the travel/hospitality space—I am grateful for the information learned. I started as the Email Marketing Specialist, and was promoted to Senior Email Marketing Specialist 14 months later.

I focus primarily on the development of dynamic email marketing campaigns. It requires knowledge of HTML/CSS/AMPscript to code customer facing email communications with the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform. I help to grow and maintain our email marketing program.

Reporting to the Director of CRM, I assist with cross-departmental support, audience segmentation and targeting, building and sending email campaigns, testing and reporting, and supporting email policies and best practices.

As one of the Senior Email Marketing Specialists, I help onboard and train new specialists. I also work closely with department leaders to help develop/update the project management tool, WorkFront, as needed for CRM.

In 2023, I worked on 56 different email campaigns. That equates to 240 individual emails created that landed in 17.5 million inboxes. I contributed to a 27.9% YOY increase in open rates for one segment, and 35.8% YOY increase in open rates for a different segment. Both segments saw an increase in clicks from 2022, one segment increased 55.35% YOY. This increase in open rate and click rate gave way for a 37.2% YOY increase in conversions.

Communications Manager - Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma

Jan. 2014 -Sept. 2021

Working for a branch of a national nonprofit is not for the feint of heart. You have to do more with less, embrace a GSD attitude, and try to be extra-efficient stewards of any donor dollars. Throughout my time, I was either rocking it solo or steering the ship as a dynamic duo. I was promoted twice during my tenure; started as the Webmaster, followed by Communications Specialist. I was promoted to Communications Manager during 2020 when I truly showed my skills and commitment to my job.

Using Salesforce Marketing Cloud, I emailed over ~10,000 people monthly. I developed an email strategy to best fit the customer base, and analyze open, click, and unsubscribe rates to suggest and modify the strategy. I also crafted email automations to help customers through the pipeline and nurture leads.

I used segmentation, personalization, and content to boost open rates from ~22% to up to ~60%. The main struggle was getting emails read, through A/B testing and segmenting, I was successful.

I provided support to the council by managing the GSEOK website. This included working with internal customers to update existing pages in order to maintain current and accurate information. I utilized Google Analytics and other analytics tools to identify trends, issues, and other data-mining as necessary. I also suggested user-flows and updates, and executed changes in a timely manner.

Working within the constraints of a national brand and platform, I was responsible for social media content, website content, and email communications for all of Eastern Oklahoma.

I was selected as one of eight on a national thought partner group to influence all Girl Scout councils' web experience, to maintain a consistency between all websites.

I managed all social media and content on multiple platforms. I utilized social media analytical data and metrics to measure effectiveness. I designed new, engaging content, developed communications and customer engagement strategies—including contests and giveaways—to enhance brand-awareness.
